About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of South Omaha, Taqueria Tijuana brings an authentic and inviting slice of Mexican street food culture to 5139 S 24th St. This cozy Mexican restaurant is a beloved local gem known for its lively atmosphere, flavorful dishes, and genuinely warm hospitality.

Taqueria Tijuana's menu is a celebration of traditional Mexican flavors, featuring an array of favorites that will tantalize your taste buds. Their tacos, especially the Carne Asada and Adobada varieties, are packed with juicy, marinated meats that explode with smoky, savory richness in every bite. For a heartier option, the Gorditas and Sope De Carne Asada offer thick, warm masa bases loaded with tender meat and fresh salsa — a perfect marriage of textures and flavors.

The Burrito Carne Asada and Torta, Mexican sandwiches bursting with meat, cheese, and fresh toppings, each provide a fulfilling and bold experience that harmonizes smooth guacamole, crisp lettuce, and tangy tomato. Don't miss their street-style Tacos Al Pastor and Tacos De Birria, which bring authentic spice and subtle sweetness that echo the best taquerias of Mexico City.

The menu is further complemented by comforting soups such as the Spicy Beef Stew, which offers a robust broth that soothes and satisfies. And for a refreshing finish, the house-crafted beverages like Horchata, Jamaica, and Mango flavored drinks provide cooling sweetness with a traditional Mexican flair.

Beyond the food, the ambiance at Taqueria Tijuana adds to the enjoyment. Its “little hole in the wall” charm — described fondly by repeat visitors — combines vibrant, colorful décor with a welcoming buzz that makes every meal feel like a celebration. The staff, known for their friendliness and attentive service, create an inviting environment where guests can relax and savor their authentic culinary journey. The steady crowd, even late into the evening, speaks volumes about the quality and consistency of what’s on the menu.

One customer’s experience captures this vibe perfectly, sharing how the spot was “packed even at 8:30 pm on a Friday” and highlighting the “super flavorful” tacos and burritos. Another visitor appreciated the genuine hospitality of the team, naming individuals like cashier Merida and server Elias — who added an extra layer of warmth to their dining experience.

While some menu items, like the Jamaica drink or portions in burritos, have sparked mixed opinions, the overall consensus praises Taqueria Tijuana for its standout street tacos, hearty sopes, and irresistible nachos — which one guest rated a rare 6 stars.

If you are craving an authentic taste of Mexico in Omaha, where traditional flavors meet fresh ingredients and friendly faces, Taqueria Tijuana is a spot that delivers richly on all fronts. Great little hole in the wall restaurant excellent tacos and burritos- super flavorful! Cute decor and really friendly staff. It was packed even at 8:30 pm on a Friday, didn't clear out until closing time which tells you how good the food is!

Large Jamaica water $5 bucks and I didn’t like it, has too much sugar not enough Jamaica flavor a tone of ice, I won’t buy it again for me is not worth it. The Burrito comes with a lot of rice and lettuce but not enough meat. I believe they cost 12 bucks. I only like the tacos here and the sopes. I don’t like the salsas a whole lot, but that’s all they have. The radishes and limes are always dry to me not fresh enough.(A recommendation for the owner, please ask your employees not to swipe the floors when costumers are eating, it’s not hygienic at all. And the bathrooms are very stinky please ask them to do a deep cleaning in the bathrooms

Listen, I’m new to the Mexican food scene out here in Omaha, and we’re off to a great start here. Coming from the East Coast, I have not had a bad experience yet, but I just had an amazing and awesome experience here at Taqueria Tijuana. Walk in, it’s a corner spot in South O off of 24th. We walked the stripped and I had asked a few locals what their recommendation would be in the past, and they all, without hesitation or thought said Taqueria Tijuana. If they don’t have to think twice, then I don’t either. Walked in and immediately seated, menu is pretty simple and has all the favorites. Of course some items like menudo and lengua are set for different daily specials or available on specific days and that’s fine, that’s just an indicator that it’s quality control and it’ll be amazing when I get a chance to go on one of those days. Anyways, prices are fantastic, about 2.75 a taco and they’re traditional. None of the new age fusion stuff and exotic combos that some places are doing these days. This is actually something I’ve enjoyed about multiple Mexican fare restaurants in Omaha so far, they stick to traditional style. As I was saying, I got a one carnitas and one asada taco, and a sope asada. The meat was so flavorful and tender in every item, the ingredients were fresh, the guac, cilantro, and onions ratio to meat and spice was perfect. The food came out fast and the food was fantastic. Belly and heart was full, and off we went to international bakery. If you haven’t been here, it’s worth the drive. You won’t regret it. Great place to grab a quick bite and be in and out in under twenty min. And it only took us that long because we were undecided as a group.

I was just in there with my son. It had been months since we’ve gone there. Great food. The cashier “Merida” showed us great hospitality, and our server “Elias” was right on point. It will become my taco Tuesday spot from now on. Give them kidos a raise

Loved the nachos! I could only eat half of it but boy was it delicious. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Bonus I went on a Tuesday and got a taco Tuesday discount!

I usually get tacos here, which are all good (carne asada, chorizo, carnitas so far). But the carne asada buritto was exceptional. If you like California mission style or Chicago type burittos, this place knocks it out of the park. Added bonus is the salsa verde and salsa roja have really good flavor and a decent amount of heat.

Went here not that long ago but here's my review. Entering, you get to choose wherever you like to sit, and the menu is not that big, just the front and back, but I'm not complaining since it's much better than deciding on 50 other dishes at other Mexican restaurants in their menu. Here it's not that quiet, but it has a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the food did come out pretty quickly like 15-20 minutes we needed to wait, which was nice. Overall great Mexican food. Hope some of ya guys find this helpful. See ya
